OUR STAFF
Camp Pinnacle interviews and selects exceptional and qualified individuals who agree to our Statement of Faith. Each applicant is run through a strict background check, and are then trained for their particular positions during a one-week training session.
We maintain at least two certified nursing staff personnel on-site and available at all times through the weeks of summer camp. Most of our staff are also CPR and First Aid certified should any emergency situation arise.
Our trained counselors are awesome Christian role models who encourage campers to “dive in!” to all of the fun experiences at their fingertips during their time at camp, and help them see first-hand what living a life for Christ looks like.
Support staff (lifeguards, kitchen, maintenance, housekeeping, ranch hands, etc.) are also encouraged to join in on the fun and create relationships with the campers outside of their designated positions’ shifts.
SWIMMING
Opportunities to JUMP IN and swim are available for campers each afternoon during free time, as well as once a week during a morning activity period for Pathfinders. A lifeguard is always on duty when the pool is open, and a buddy system is strictly facilitated/enforced.
Prior to the first open swim on Monday at Flex Time, a swim test will take place (orchestrated by a certified PSI) and campers will receive a colored band according to their evaluation for them to wear all week. Red bands grant the camper permission only to the shallow end of the pool. Yellow bands grant the camper permission to the shallow end and the middle section of the pool. Green bands grant the camper access to the pool’s entirety (shallow, middle, and deep end). The shallow end of the pool measures 1 ft deep and the deep end measures 8 ft.
Buddy System: A list of buddies (pairs of 2 campers) is recorded before campers enter the pool area. Every 15 minutes “buddy checks” are performed by the lifeguard(s) on duty. Swimmers must move together, grasp each other’s’ hands and raise them above their heads. Once the lifeguard has counted and confirmed the accuracy, he/she will advise the campers they may continue swimming.
